Hello, please join us financially to roof a training base for vulnerable girls and women in rural Uganda.Total needed is $1,125 ( $675 for iron sheets,$120 for timber, $80 nails and $250 labor fees.
THE DEWI TAILORING BASE ROOF FUNDRISER -OVERVIEW

Hello, we are DEWI Stronger Communities, a registered charity (community Based Organization –C.B.O, Reg.No.WCBO/20/1638 from rural Uganda, East Africa.

We are delighted to invite you over for a partnership to help us to roof a community tailoring training building that will benefit vulnerable girls and women (those who dropped out of school untimely – live in low literacy levels, unemployment and chronic poverty) in rural Uganda-Magoggo parish to have a chance to gain a career, learn tailoring and start their own businesses.

Total needed is $1,125 and that will cover 4 items (iron sheets purchase, timber, nails and labour fees for roofing.
Your generous donation will enable us to complete the roofing stage and we save the stuck building from the hash weather of heavy rain fall, we move to the next stage of closing the building, we move inn, stop renting the squeezed space, hence serving more people.

As DEWI, we are 4 years but the tailoring program is 1 year old-19 students have graduated with us so far and they are very promising. Just, 18 years, one of the beneficiaries testifies, “I’m so grateful that I got the opportunity to learn tailoring with DEWI, I do not know how exactly I would survive financially in these crisis days of covid, now I can take orders for my customers and I make for them what they want from my home, I make fantastic clothing and sell daily and so make profits. This has saved me from early pregnancy and drowning in poverty’’.

We bought a plot of land and started on the construction from the foundation to the stage where it’s ready for roofing. Training rooms can accommodate 40 trainees at once-it also has a showroom where we shall be displaying finished products to the public for marketing.

$15 buys 1 iron sheet but $150 buys 10, $60 buys ½ of the timber needed, $40 buys ½ the nails and $80 covers all the nails, $50 covers a day’s labor out of 5 days.

Project Updates

Final update

With your kind donation, we have bought iron sheets, nails, timber, a piano, rubber washers, roofing, food and labour. The building will allow us to train and graduate 80 students per year. This means 40 needy rural girls and women from our eight village parishes will benefit every six months. The facility also allows us to reach more people at a lower cost as a result of not having to rent anymore, and therefore, we can become more sustainable. It has also resulted in our sewing machines being protected, and with the extra room, we no longer need to cram many training rooms into a small space. With the extra room, we can include a practical skills course in soap bar making (a fundamental need for everyone in the community). It will also make our community kids’ play and dance club rehearsal spaces safer (outside space will be better utilized). The building is still under construction.
