My name is Miriam Gondwe the co-founder of Royal Kidz Academy in Mangochi Malawi. I believe in a world where every child is regarded unique and has greater potential in fulfilling his/her ambitions in life if given enough opportunities to do so.

At Royal Kidz Academy we put much effort to help children get equal access to education including those who require extra support. We conduct after school classes for 10 children age from 8-12 who are struggling in class especially in numeracy and literacy in our primary school section. With the creative team that I work with, we have seen children who struggle in basic reading begin enjoying spending time with books.

But… due to COVD 19 restrictions placed by the government of Malawi children are only allowed to spend few hours at school this made us to stop having after school classes. The progress of our learners in this program has been derailed.

Any Options to make learning continue?

Yes. In the onset of Covd 19 pandemic, we introduced home-schooling, but children were not assisted fully because some parents of these children are illiterate. in addition to that, some learners were requesting the presence of the teachers as such parents failed to teach their children at home.

A simple Education Tablet loaded with teacher’s homework, readers and numeracy games is all we need to keep our 20 learners in the after-school program to continue learning. These learners will still have to see and hear the voice of their teachers during the short lessons in their homes after knocking off from school. A child will be allowed to take a tablet at home three times in a week for homework purposes.

If education is your passion and you are content when you see the lives of children change to the better, then help us buy education tablets for our After School Program. $800 will enable us to buy 10 education tablets and $50 will be used as stipend for our 2 teachers to train the learners how to use the tablets in 2021-2022 academic year. So, if few people commit to give $30 each that would help us to purchase the tablets and help in training the children how to use the devices. However, any amount will make a difference whether its $10, $20 or $100.
