DEWI Stands for ‘Destiny Wings’.

It’s a charitable organization started on 1st July 2017 with a vision of ‘Creating Thriving Communities in remote areas of Africa.  It started due to the alarming rates of unemployment, chronic poverty and illiteracy.

The ITL crowdfunding campaign in 2021 helped to put a roof on this building when we needed it most… Grateful always.

Our intended beneficiaries are: Children, Youth and Women. We are rooted in the village setting. We have 6 full programs as an organization of which economic empowerment is one of our most outstanding. We serve in Magoggo parish which has 8 villages. From the 8 villages, we were able to form a savings club called DEWI Savings and Credit Group Magoggo. We are now 50 members.

Our approach is Save.Loan.Invest.

Under our economic empowerment, its further subdivided under 2 segments; that’s is, The Savings and Credit Club and then the practical skilling part

The savings and credit group, we save for a full year, once in a week, from an amount starting from ½ a USD to any that a member can afford.

This gives members freedom to avoid too much financial pressure considering the so many troubles already around us. Most of our women come from very poor backgrounds with no or limited education, single mothers, widows and the family breadwinners. On the day of rounding off the savings round, all members come, we make a simple party, exchange gifts amongst ourselves, share all our savings and profits made accordingly then we open up a savings round for the coming year. We see and know the reality in their daily struggles to make ends meet.

Some of the women in our club own and run small businesses in their homes or village trading centre. In that vein, we identified some of the most hardworking, better saving discipline – however much they have little best time keepers while we sit in our weekly saving gatherings. We chose those 8 not because that’s all we had but because the fundraising opportunity available could mostly accommodate that number but we have more intended beneficiaries.

So, we intend to give them a hand up in their businesses such that their capital gets boasted when each gets 125 USD. For sustainability purposes and serving more people, that’s why we consider using the very funds to reinvest and serve more members at the end.

Each takes 125 USD, 8 women, the total goal is 1,000 USD they invest it in their individual businesses for months, after, they pay back half of it.

So, when we get the 500 USD back, we are topping up with 100 USD as a savings club and we make 600 USD.

INVESTMENT: We are investing in events
That’s purchasing plastic chairs for hire by the public. We reinvest for the coming full year. We intend to expand the business by purchasing more chairs, bringing other items like tents, tables and more for hire. In the end, this will bring in profits to the club that will be shared equally by all group members. After 2 years, we shall identify more members whose businesses we can boast again and so the funds revolve and bless more people.

So, 500USD will purchase 63 chairs,
100 USD will purchase 13 chairs
600 USD will purchase 76 Chairs.

In all we do, we love to share the love of God without leaving one behind.

Thank you for considering transforming and blessing lives in rural Uganda through your donation. GOD BLESS YOU.
