A Hand Up!! Refugee Chicken Project.

Refugee chicken project is not a handout but a hand up to refugees in Kyaka Refugee settlement Camp. Aimed at providing refugees with chicken to rear so that they can have eggs to eat and sell the rest for an income.

Experiance in Chicken Rearing

As a family we have been rearing chicken for tthree years and have been ministering in the Refugee camp for over a year. We understand both the benefits, experiance and challenges involved in chicken rearing and the general living conditions of refugees.

Visit in Refugee Camp

In May 2019 when I first visited Kyaka refugee camp my heart was moved by the conditions of children. Many looked sickly and mulnurished. These children not only lacked enough to eat but also the little they had lacked proteins, which is essential for their growth.

Refugees Receive

The project will provide each refugees with three chicken which are ready to lay eggs, chicken feeds and immunizations for the first three months. Plus training on how to look after chicken and how to run the chicken project profitably.

Lets bless the lives of these precious people through A Hand Up Refugee Chicken Project

Final Report

We raised funds to construct a chicken coop and buy 40 chickens to provide eggs to 70 Refugees Children during our weekly discipleship and feeding program. With the help of UNHCR, we will be able to feed over 1000 malnourished children weekly with an egg, giving them economic empowerment and an income.

In 2020 we did a fundraiser towards Refugees Chicken rearing project with a vision of providing eggs to malnourished Refugee children.

We raised funds to construct a chicken coop and buy 40 chickens. These few chicken has been a source of eggs to 70 Refugees Children during our weekly discipleship and feeding program. Every child has an egg every week.

A year later the impact of this program has been felt by the Prime Ministers and UNHCR
officials at Kyaka refugee camp. They have now supported our project with 300. This will give
us opportunity to do even more for malnourished Refugee children.

I want to thank all who supported our efforts and am so excited to see God’s blessings on this project

THE BLESSINGS:

Now this has grown to 300 chickens with the help of UNHCR. This means that we will be able to feed over 1000 malnourished children weekly with an egg as the project sustains it’s self.

The hand of the Lord is truly on this project.

I believe this program can move from just feeding malnourished Children to economic empowerment as they sell extra eggs.

We are thinking of taking this project to another level, constructing a chicken coop for every ten households. They working together will be able to feed their malnourished children plus have an income.
